In order to optimize opportunities for student learning outcomes, the committee will use these goals as guides for the process.

  • To represent a diversity of peoples, experiences andperspectives.
  • To represent a diversity ofplaywrights/composers/creators.
  • To represent a variety of storytelling approaches.
  • To produce a variety of scales and styles of production.
  • To represent a variety of theatre styles and genres.
  • To represent a variety of theatrical historic periods.

Below are the current pedagogical goals for academic programs with regards to the production practicum. 

  • Acting & Musical Theatre
    • Plays with multiple female identifying roles
    • Golden Age Rep with a traditional orchestra
  • Theatre Administration
    • Ability to serve the internal and external public of approximately 5,000 to 8,000 seats with at least 6 performances per production
    • Diversity of genres/styles which includes on blockbuster musical or play that has wide popular appeal or financially successful
    • Ability for students to work across a range of venues with at least one production in each Dillingham Center theatre: Hoerner and Clark
  • Stage Management
    • New work
    • Sufficient assignments for the current cohort
  • Theatre Production and Design
    • Goals:
      • A range of scale and scope
      • Variety of historical periods
      • Variety of aural and visual styles and presentation
    • Production Restrictions:
      • Any production that requires projections
      • Musical and play cast sizes above 22
      • Wireless Microphones for reinforcement for non-musicals
      • Musicals and plays with a run time over 2.5 hours
  • Theatre Studies
    • Students develop new plays with alumni and professional artists/faculty
    • Students devise and/or collaboratively create pieces as a group
    • Reflecting the current cultural, professional and aesthetic moment at the local and/or global level in order to inspire civically conscious citizens and artists. 
    • Introducing/Exposing student artists & audiences to diverse and underrepresented perspectives, forms, and voices.
    • Exposing students to plays from a variety of genres & time periods over their four-year progression at Ithaca College.
