A group of students will break into teams and explore downtown Ithaca on a quest to find some of the LGBTQ history and culture our city has to offer. Teams will use their creativity and wits to discover Ithaca’s LGBTQ past and present, while learning their way around the local area and having fun. Students will ride TCAT bus and walk approximately 1 mile on sometimes uneven Ithaca city surfaces. 

 In this program, participants will: 

  • Explore LGBTQ history and culture of the area, while becoming more familiar with downtown resources and points of interest.

  • Meet current student leaders and college staff supporting LGBTQ student life at Ithaca College. 

  • Have fun and meet new friends! 

Program Logistics
  • New students can participate in this Jumpstart program on August 19-20, 2024

  • Jumpstart participants will move into their residence hall rooms on Monday, August 19 between 9:00am - 4:00pm.

  • The program runs from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Monday (includes a welcome BBQ!), approximately 9:00am-6:00pm on Tuesday, with a Jumpstart closing event on Tuesday evening.

  • Lunch will be provided at a local restaurant with ties to the LGBTQ and IC communities for participants of this program on Tuesday, all other meals will be covered by your IC meal plan in the dining hall. Transportation and all program materials are provided for this program.

  • Participants will be ride TCAT bus and walk approximately 1 mile on sometimes uneven Ithaca city surfaces.  

  • Wear comfortable clothing and footwear for being outdoors and having fun! Pride gear and accessories welcome but not required. A great opportunity to break out your buttons, t-shirts and rainbow fashion statements.

  • There is no charge for this program.
