Get out and Live with IC!

Do you enjoy the outdoors? Do you like waterfalls? Do you want to know why everyone is wearing those green Ithaca is Gorges T-shirts? If you answered yes to any of these questions this program is for you!

 IN THIS PROGRAM, PARTICIPANTS WILL: 

  • Get outside and see some of the beautiful sites around Ithaca with some amazing people.
  • Head off campus to hike in one of Ithaca’s most iconic local parks.
  • Experience some of the beautiful local waterfalls, trails, wildlife, and connect with your fellow jumpstart students while we hike at Robert H. Treman State Park.
  • Learn de-stress strategies in nature as you hike the beautiful loop between Lucifer Falls and the Lower Falls.
Program Logistics

  • New students can participate in this Jumpstart program on August 19 & 20, 2024.

  • Jumpstart participants will move into their residence hall rooms on Monday, August 19 between 9:00am - 4:00pm.

  • The program runs from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Monday (includes a welcome BBQ!), approximately 9:00am-6:00pm on Tuesday, with a Jumpstart closing event on Tuesday night (approximately 7:30-9:30pm).

  • A packed lunch will be provided for participants of this program on Tuesday, all other meals will be covered by your IC meal plan in the dining hall. Transportation and all program materials are provided for this program.

  • Participants will need to be able to hike four to five miles. Please wear appropriate footwear. 
  • Students need to bring a water bottle, any life saving medications, PPE, clothing appropriate for the weather and a rain coat, small backpack to carry their gear and lunch.

  • There is no charge for this program.
