A Place Where YOU Belong: The BIPOC Experience creates an opportunity for Black, Indigenous, People of Color (B.I.P.O.C.) to learn about IC campus resources in culturally validating spaces. Learn about the history and advocacy efforts surrounding the BIPOC/Students of Color experience through connection with upper-year students, faculty, staff, and alumni, build community among each other, learn about the Ithaca area, and participate in activities that may include visiting the Ithaca Commons or a regional landmark.

Learning Outcomes:
- Awareness of resources that support BIPOC achievement, success, and retention
- Connect and build relationships with BIPOC alumni, faculty, and staff
- Learn about the history of the students of color/BIPOC experience at IC and how advocacy has evolved at Ithaca College
- Provide a cohort experience for first-year and transfer students to create culturally validating spaces that empower BIPOC/Students of Colors to successfully navigate a PWI
- New students can participate in this Jumpstart program on August 19-20, 2024

Jumpstart participants will move into their residence hall rooms on Monday, August 19 between 9:00am - 4:00pm.

The program runs from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Monday (includes a welcome BBQ!), approximately 9:00am-6:00pm on Tuesday, with a Jumpstart closing event on Tuesday evening.

A catered lunch will be provided for participants of this program on Tuesday, all other meals will be covered by your IC meal plan in the dining hall. Transportation and all program materials are provided for this program.

Participants will be engaged in fun activities; please wear clothes and shoes that will allow you to walk around downtown.
