Student Drivers

Please note the criteria listed below and confirm you meet these criteria before applying to become an approved driver.

Criteria to become an approved Ithaca College driver.

  • All Ithaca College students who need to drive a College owned or rented vehicle for a College activity must authorize the College to check their MVR by completing a Driver Information Form.
  • The minimum required age for driving outside the boundaries of Tompkins County is 21 years of age.
  • The minimum required age for driving only in Tompkins County is 19 years of age.
  • All Students must have a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience after obtaining a driver’s license and complete and follow all requirements to become an approved College driver.

Note: Student drivers must be relieved of driving responsibilities every 3 hours; if travel will exceed three (3) hours (one way), then two (2) approved drivers are required.  Further detail is located in the Student Driver Handbook.
